-Cello Concerto No.1 in C major - The Cello Concerto No.1 in C major, Hob 1, by Joseph Haydn, was composed around 1761-65 for longtime friend Joseph Franz Weigl. All works was discovered in 1961, Haydn had written the beginning part of theme of the first movement in his draft catalogue of 1765. The Cello part is thoroughly idiomatic, and the Concerto reflects the ritornello of the Baroque concerto and Sonata-allegro form. The structure of the movements is in three - 1. Moderato / 2. Adagio /3. Allegro molto /. All three movements of this work are written in Sonata form, but second Concerto is used as Rondo form in the second and third movements.
