In fact, he began to write the Fantasia in January 1828 in Vienna. This work was completed in March of that year, and it was performed in May. After he died in November in 1828, his friends and families determined that they published a number of his works. This work is one of those pieces, and it was published by Anton Diabelli in March in 1829.
